This mantra comes from Tibetan Esoteric Buddhism and is included in Mipham Rinpoche's ''The Merit of Purifying Karma and Hundred Mantras''. This Six Paths Vajra Heart Mantra originated from a benevolent person who sent a large number of aquatic beings back to the low level lake water in order to save which died of drought; but there are too many suffering beings. ''Too many suffering being, it's hard to save sentient beings!'' he thought. At that time, an enlightened person incarnated to teach him: ''To save all living beings, of course few sentient beings can be saved. If you use the law of an enlightened person to save all living beings, then all living beings can save themselves.'' And spread this mantra to help him save even more suffering beings, lead the departed one to good destination.
